It sounds like an exiting news that somebody could plant patatos in environments similar to that of Mars.
But, give the crazy industrial activities, producing redundant products just for the purpose of increasing revenue and profit, it will take less time to totally destroy the earth than finding a feasible way to migrate to any other space objects.
This does not take a rocket scientist to figure out. At the same time, it is not impossible for the politicians, enterprise owners to hide this fact.
Human beings are just too near sighted to evolve to a real smart species.
Elon Musk has published an outline of his audacious plan to colonize Mars with 1 million people is a news dated Jun. 16, 2017.
Going and living there for what?
Just for fun?
If for escaping from the earth because it will be less habitable even than the Mars, the what happens to the rest of billions of people?
Isn't it very much cheaper and easier to "colonize" deserts like Gobi, Sahara?
The news quote "Musk hopes to fly 1 million people to the red planet as a sort of "backup drive" for Earth at cost of $100,000 to $200,000 per person."
How on earth (no pan intended) can the cost be $200,00 per person? In other words, if the technology does advance that much, there will be plenty more places becoming habitable on earth. Even the moon might turn out to be a nice and handy place. And the cost and resources spent on sending people to Mars can be spent much more effectively and efficiently on improving the environments of our mother earth.
Why eager to disturb and pollute another planet?
Elon Musk's enthusiasm is purely from his business needs. Talking about any plans as "ambitious" as this is as good as any kind of scam, cheating people for money.
